SPEEDWELL CONSERVATION CAROUSEL
When it opened in 2012 at the National Zoo in Washington, DC, the Speedwell Conservation Carousel was one of the world’s only solar powered carousels. It features 58 hand carved animals, many representing endangered species that the Zoo have worked with over the years. These speed past panels that depict forest, grassland, savannah and aquatic habitats. There is also an interactive dashboard display that shows how much energy the carousel saved since its debut.
